UMPIRES NEEDED

The Alvinston Minor Ball Association is on the lookout for kids in Minor Ball or Adults, who wish to take up umpiring this season. Our association provides umpires for all home games, and this keeps our registration costs down. If you wish to be an umpire this season, please contact Andy Triest ASAP at tootalltriest@hotmail.com.

ALVINSTON TO ADD ROOKIE BALL HARDBALL TEAM

The Alvinston Minor Ball Association is welcoming registrations for Rookie Ball this year.  This is a hardball option for kids who are between the ages of 7-9 years old.  Jason Denkers has expressed interest in starting a team, and the league typically covers the area from Wallaceburg to Forest.  If you have any questions regarding Rookie Ball, please contact Jason at jdrenovations@brktel.on.ca or see him at registration on Saturday, March 5, from 9am - 3pm.  

ALVINSTON JR. INDIANS PROMO CLOTHING

The Alvinston Minor Ball Association has adopted a promotional clothing line for the 2011 season, sticking to our organization's logo and name, which is the Alvinston Jr. Indians.  Jump suits, long sleeve undershirts, t-shirts, ball bags, and hoodie samples will be available at registration for people to size on those dates, and consider making an order.

FASTBALL CLINIC OPTION - SPRINGBOARD 2011

The OASA Springboard 2011 is a one day program for fastball players and coaches.  Springboard introduces athletes to the fastball skills of pitching, catching, fielding, and hitting.  At the same time there will be an opportunity for coaches to learn about practice organization, skills, drills, and strategy.  The sessions will be for athletes 8 to 12 years of age and 13 to 19 years old.  The coaching sessions are primarily for minor team coaches

PITCHING CLINIC AT BROOKE - WINSHIP ALL-STAR PITCHING CLINIC

Shaun Winship, a local pitching star and instructor has brought his clinic to Brooke Central School.  Many pitchers in Alvinston Minor Ball have taken advantage of this clinic, and are currently participating in it.  Any other pitchers who wish to join, should get in touch with Shaun Winship (winship@me.com) or Andy Triest (tootalltriest@hotmail.com OR alvinston@playsoftball.ca) immediately.

CANPITCH PITCHING CLINIC

Alvinston Minor Ball also has an opportunity to get the CANPITCH Pitching Clinic back to Brooke for a second time.  Last season Doug Charlton taught the clinic, and 24 pitchers participated in this very worthwhile pitching opportunity.  If you have a son or daughter that would be interested in this clinic or in pitching this season, please contact Andy Triest at tootalltriest@hotmail.com OR alvinston@playsoftball.ca as soon as possible.  It will be $75.00 for each pitcher for 6 clinics, likely on Saturday's at Brooke Central School, starting in mid-April.

2010 JIMMY SHAW MEMORIAL AWARD WINNERS

During the 2010 Alvinston Minor Ball Banquet the first two recipients of the Jimmy Shaw Memorial Award were honoured.  Two of Jimmy’s grandchildren, Tanner and Sydney Redick, were on hand to present the award to Julianne Breen and Derek Butler.
